The literal meaning of Tae Kwon Do is "Foot, Hand, Martial art." However, Tae Kwon Do means much more than kicking and punching. It is a martial art that offers discipline, self-confidence, personal growth and character development. Tae Kwon Do is practical as an exercise system but it also works to sharpen your coordination, quicken your reflexes, improve your muscle tone, and increase your overall strength.
Tae kwon do is a sport that fits everyone. Tae Kwon Do aims at the harmonious improvement of body and mind as well as physical exercise using dynamic and balanced hand and foot movements. This helps make the practitioner healthy and humane. Tae Kwon Do is a peace-oriented sport that emphasizes the importance of fair play. Tae Kwon Do has grown as an international sport. It is already on the agenda for most international and continental multi-sport games, including Pan American, Asian, All African, and South American Games. It was twice staged as a demonstration sport of the Olympic games both in Seoul Olympic and Barcelona Olympic Games. In Tae Kwon Do demonstrations performed during the opening ceremonies of Asian Games and Olympic Games as many as 1,000 players showed the world the beautiful, sharp, and powerful movements of Tae Kwon do in it's strictest manner. Tae Kwon Do is now an official Olympic Sport starting in the Year 2000 in Australia.
